What Is Baptism?

We believe that baptism is a step of obedience in following Jesus (Matthew 28:19). It is the voluntary "dunking" of someone into water as a public means of confessing their faith in Jesus Christ.

It is also a symbol. The physical act of going under and then coming up out of the water is a picture of the spiritual cleansing, death or burial of their sin and the resulting resurrection to eternal life that they received when they put their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:3-4).

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."  Matthew 28:19
